I could be wrong, but I think I’ve heard that the flat alpha method can’t be used with the upside down alpha method.

There is a method to do this, while incorporating the flat alpha technique.Consider and alpha has 2 sides- *A* for front and *B* for the back side. Side A is what we usually knot on and which is facing up. This method involves knotting while Side A is facing up like a regular alpha with a twist. When we usually do the colour changes we do it at Side A (front) and place the previous leading string at the back of the alpha. However in this, we will do the colour changes on Side A and not shift the previous leading string behind the alpha but keep it at the front. As a result we can do colour changes using the flat alpha technique. The pattern will form on the back or Side B which will result in an upside down alpha. If we follow the pattern as it is on the front or Side A, the back or Side B will have a mirror image of said pattern. You could follow the pattern in the inverse direction as well. I hope this made sense 😊 I will explain any step or direction again if it's not clear |

@aiden707 ohhhh i see. so you’re not actually doing the alpha with side B up, you’re doing a normal alpha but dragging the strings over the top so they can’t be seen when u flip them around?
