I am trying to make a pattern. It is fairly large and in 3 parts. Basically it is a person's footprints and on either side, paw prints of 2 dogs. The dog prints are fine. I've managed to get the first human footprint (the right foot) done, but now I need to flip the pattern somehow to do the second print so it looks like a left foot. I have tried just flipping the pattern but that ends up changing the colour too. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Maybe try going into the generator and flipping it, like make a whole new pattern for the other foot. It should be fairly easy to do. Give me the pattern number and I will try.

It is still in the generator as I am trying to make it there.

What I do for patterns like that (especially eye patterns), is that I go across the first row (horizontal) and make the same knots but facing the other way (if that makes sense). I hope that kind of answered your question hehe..

Grrrrrrrrr, I would have uploaded some photobucket screen shots but the forum rejected it as spam. Now what?!? How else can I post photos?

lyra, I did that, and that's when it changed the background colour on me. 🙁

That's really weird, it doesn't change it when I do. Maybe try Drawing it out on graph paper and then putting it in the generator?

Are you sure you don't have it on full instead of knot? I think those are the options. Sometimes when making a pattern and I use fill, I forget to click on knot and it just messes up the whole thing -___-

Jessi, I didn't even know that was an option! Lyra, I think I'll submit the pattern so you folks can see where I am at and will be able to understand better what I am trying to do.

I've submitted the pattern (18791), so now you can see what I mean. I would like to 'flip' every second foot over so it looks like a proper set of footprints.

Oh, I didn't realize you were talking about a normal pattern! I guess you could try adding more strings and copying the same knots you used for the first foot? I'm not very good at making normal patterns, I apologize

Ok, I checked out your pattern. If when you flip the pattern and everything is the wrong color to make everything the right color again, change the direction of the knots. A fb knot becomes a bf knot and a bf knot becomes a fb knot. I hope that helps.

When I flip the pattern, it's only the centre part (the foot section) that changes. The paw parts are just F or B knots, whereas the foot part are all FB or BF. That's how I tried flipping the pattern, by simply swapping the fb's to bf's, and that's when the colours changed.

I'm still struggling with this and am bumping in the hopes that someone may be able to help. I can message you the pattern so you can see what I've done and maybe you can figure out how to flip the second foot. Thanks

I think, if I understand correctly. 1. Draw out your first foot. 2. Trace over onto tracing paper, heavily with 3b pencil. 3. Turn tracing paper over and shade over it, where you want the second foot - this should give you an imprint of the right shape. Hopefully then you should be able to work out which knot will move the string to the right place. If I have not understood correctly, sorry... Happy knotting!
