By thick, do you mean like 40 strings? How many?

One trick I have for you is to use graph paper to draw your pattern and then put it in the generator. Here's a tutorial on that https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/34_designing-normal-patterns/

@meganff01 I'm pretty new to knotting so 20-24 strings is thick enough for me!

@ayyen if you want to create your own original patterns, you can draw it out first on a blank template... it can be downloaded here:https://i.pinimg.com/originals/67/b4/08/67b408c935888b6b4165d7201f11054a.jpg I usually draw mine out with colored pencils so it's easier to label the string colors. The app does not have access to the generators, so you have to use the website directly. Hover over your username and click "Create Patterns. You'll have to edit the existing black/red normal pattern. Choose all the colors you want to use, then assign them to each string in the Colors Order box (colors are labeled a, b, c etc) in whatever order that your patterns shows. Type each row of knots in your pattern using the arrow keys at the right corner of the code box and the generator will translate to the code for you. Then click "save & test" to generate the pattern. To make changes or corrections, you need to carefully count the rows and spaces to edit the code. You can either use the generated pattern for your personal use, or submit it to the site to share with everyone, but it will disappear for a while (up to a couple days) until it gets reviewed and either declined or posted. It might take a lot of experimenting to figure out how to get your pattern the way you want. And it also helps to study or copy existing patterns to understand how they're built. If the generator doesn't work out well for you, I think any of these 20-25 string patterns would look really nice for a dad: #30877 #33750 #37025 #24130 #31609 #37253 #28168 #35591 #47206 Hope that helps! 😊 |
