Hi, I've read all the topics in the forum and I couldn't find one that talked about the composition of the treads. Most of the embroidery threads are cotton or cheap polyester/acrylic. I know that the way that the thread is made makes a lot of difference, but my question is what's the composition of your thread? Not just embroidery, it can be yarn or anything.. I want to invest in strong strings, mine always gets fuzzy and I hate it, it damage the bracelet and it break my heart/motivation because it takes so much time and efforts to make a beautiful friendship bracelet.. And I also wanted to have your opinion on dmc pearl thread, is that a good invest? I was concidering buying twisted cotton yarn in bobbin because it is cheaper to the long therm but I'm hesitating. It has been a while and I'm taking my time to prevent buying something I wouldnt use Thank you for reading me and I hope you will give me some advices 🙂 ! |

Hi! I personally would recommend going to your local michaels or craft store, and just buying in person. I have bought bulk off of amazon but the quality is never as good! as for the pearl thread, definitely worth the cost : )

Dmc thread is great and strong also lovely colours but to be honest there isn’t that much of a difference to amazon threads. I buy all my thread from amazon I use 3 stranded wax string and 6 stranded embroider thread they both work fine I’ve never had a problem with it going fuzzy but it happens to loads of people I think it’s to do with the string or if your untying it a bit messy either way you can fix it usually by wetting the bracelet and smoothing it down my the time it dries it’s not fuzzy ❤️hope this helped

Thank you so much for your quick answers! I think I will buy a few of dmc to try and test really thin waxed yarn, I'll work with both and then I'll be able to choose what I prefer! I think it is a question of time and practice. But if the brand doesn't really matter I'll check at my locals crafts stores if I can find a cheaper alternative Again thanks for both of you 😉 Maybe I'll make an update |

I know that this forum is kinda closed but I would like to share some input. I use DMC pearl cotton craft cord a lot with bracelets and it’s what I used at first. It’s super durable and great. Just a small warning if your a super tight and agressive knotter like me it may give you blisters 😬. If you don’t put a bunch of force into knots like I did you will be ok though. But yea I really recommend pearl cotton craft cord type string. I’m sorry I don’t have much to help about fuzzing because I don’t really have that problem with my bracelets. (I haven’t worn them much though) but I’d say pearl cotton craft cord is worth the price. (My apologies for any misspelled words or improper grammar)

@cewdewd (I don't know how replying works I don't know if I have to @)Don't worry, I'm not an English native speaker I make mistakes too ;]. I'm a pretty tight and aggressive knotter like you, and my hand hurt soooo much. I havent find any tips for the pain but the tip against blisters is to wear sticking plaster on the areas you touch the thread with. Or if you don't want to waste sticking plaster you can use tape! Thank you for your answer! |
