i personally dont, im left handed if that matters, but i usually use my left hand to hold the string im knotting on. and use my right hand to make the knot

I always do my knots the same but I tighten the forward knots with my right hand and the backward knots with my left hand, I feel like doing otherwise will tighten the knot in the wrong direction

Nope! I usually use my right hand to hold the string that is being knotted onto and I do the knot with my left hand.
