So this has been very annoying for me lately, my string keeps snapping while I’m knotting! A the beginning I just thought that it was because I used bad quality yarn. But when I did my starburst bracelet with only dmc floss, my string also snapped! I don’t know if I’m knotting too tight, but I would like to know if this is only happening to me.. it is really slowing me down and it is extremely annoying.

It may be because you’re knotting too tight. Are your bracelets stiff when you finish them? If so, then I’d try knots that are a little looser and see if that helps

Yes I agree, embroidery floss isn’t that strong, so if you pull to hard to tighten your knots they will break more frequently. Also I’m not completely sure, but it may be the brand of string you use

You could be from knotting too tight. I’ve also experienced snapping more often whenever I use cheaper, lower quality embroidery thread

Sometimes good quality string can become weak if you've had it for a long time. I have some older colors wrapped around little cards to keep them organized but since thy're ones I don't use often the string itself becomes "brittle." Like others have said, knotting too tightly overall can cause strings to snap.

Thank you so much everybody! I think it probably is that since my dmc floss was brand new. I will try knotting without pulling so hard and will let you know! 😄

I used to have that problem and found that if you make your knots higher up and slightly loosen the tension too. Hope this is helpful😊

It depends on the type of string that you are using. If you are using a string brand that breaks a lot then that is the reason. Or you are knotting too tight. Try loosening your knot tension. First thing to answer is what brand of string you are using.

Try loosening you knotting tension but still tying the knots tight enough so they stay together. If you are having trouble with dmc floss snapping try a different brand! Craft cord and the twisted looking floss tends to snap easier. Hope this is helpful 🙂

Your string might be bad quality, so I’d recommend getting better string. Also, you might be pulling too hard on the string when you’re tying your knots.

The knots might be too tight or if you are pulling a string to hard, say while you were holding the string or trying to untie a knot 🙂

A lot of the times for me the string snaps when I am making the knots too tightly or if the string is older and lower.
