Length of background color string for alpha?

Pattern is 21 x 24, background color is about 80%, and I want to make sure I have enough before I start

Are you meaning the base strings or the actual bracelet string. If it is the actual bracelet string I would do about 1-2 arms lengths to start out with. You can always add more though.

That size really shouldn’t need more than four feet

Yes, I mean the background color of the actual bracelet string. I only have one skein of the color I want to use and didn’t want to run out and not be able to match it. It’s my first alpha pattern so I had no idea where to start 🙂 Thank you both!

I just keep the skein together and knot with that so I don’t have to worry about weaving in new string if I didn’t cut my base string long enough!!! I almost never use a whole skein but ig it depends on the pattern ((:

I normally do about from my finger tips to shoulder for the base strings
