i’m trying to make an alpha and i’m trying to do the flat alpha technique or whatever it’s called and i’m not sure how to do the edges if you are switching colors at the beginning of a row

If you switch colors at the edge, you can’t use the flat alpha technique for that knot sadly. You would have to switch colors the traditional way and not put the old color in the middle of the knot. Here’s a video on this technique: https://youtu.be/ePr81hbvdjE

i have a modified way of doing the flat alpha technique on the edges that works quite well for me: when you get to the edge, instead of putting the old leading string across the first half of the new knot and then knotting the second half over it ( like you normally would)i do the second half of the new knot around both the base string and the old leading string. very simple, and it works like a charm! (hopefully i explained so this makes sense to you!)
