if you want cheaper thread but a lot of options when starting use, any bulk pack on amazon works great. if you want to be able to pick out colors and feel the thread and such, in person at michaels or joanns is great. if you like dmc type thread, but find it too expensive, https://www.mynotions.com/product-category/embroidery-thread-floss/ is a great website with amazing quality thread just as good as dmc but just way cheaper. i get most of my thread from there
