Hello guys, how do you make for example #142398 this pattern? Would you make it different than #18? The first one I knotted down in chevrons because I have to take care of what color/string to knot in which direction. I saw videos with arrowheads that are segment knotted. Maybe #18 is better to segment knot? I don't know, I think, maybe I will knot it in chevrons too. Do you have any good advice for me? Thank you! |

Arrowheads are tough to segment knot for the most part. If there are boxes or long diagonals you can segment but for the most part, follow the rows until you find the natural spots to segment.

I think normal arrowheads like #18 are better to segment knot than arrowheads with additional squares or anything. Sometimes it's really easier to knot it down in chevrons. I just found out that there are so many different arrowheads and some are easier than others.

Pattern #142398 also seems very suitable for segment-knotting. It is a bit more complex than #18, but it should very well be possible. To tie this pattern, instead of knotting row by row, you can knot following the structure of a chevron (v-shape). Not all knots follow that structure, but most do. If you want to do actual segment-knotting, you can use the v-shape as a rough orientation. I'd do the following segments: I'd start with the knots at the edge of row 5. There is a dark purple chevron (colour a) that reaches until almost the center (row 11). After the almost chevron, I'd do the small light purple triangles (colour b) with the pink knot (colour c) in the centre of the triangle at the edge of rows 13 to 17. Then I'd do the orange (e and f) squares (row 10 to 12). After that the purple (a and h) in the center (row 12 to 16). Then the pattern repeats with different colours. I hope I did not forget any steps. |

@halokiwi: it sounds so logic, of course you are right!I have made this pattern - let me think - 4 times? And always knotted in a V shape. The only "segments" I segment knotted were the little triangles at the edge. But yes, maybe I should try to segment knot the squares too. Could be a bit faster then instead of knotting in row by row in chevrons. I already cutted the strings for another 3 of this pattern! I just love it! ๐ |
