Hi ! I made a spreadsheet to calculate how much string I'd need for my bracelets, and figured i'd share it ๐ I was inspired by the tutorial by halokiwi (https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/173_how-to-calculate-string-length-in-a-normal-pattern/), but I wanted it to work for all lengths of bracelets, and i didn't want to do the calculations everytime ๐ I'd recommend you go read the beginning of their tutorial to understand the knot counting partYou can find it here : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pWqqR2DV-8Qmg9b61KjB1ZhJSdTasZQlGdCauoQfPDk/edit?usp=sharing To use it, you need to copy it to your own drive (file -> make a copy or something like that). There are explanations on how to use it on the page itself. There is also more random info such as the number of knots in your bracelet which can be useful for some challenges ^^ Some values used are personal to how you knot (which brand of thread, how tight you knot...). I've used values that work for me, but if you want to adjust them, i've made a second page, where you can use a bracelet you've already made to find your own. It's probably not the most user-friendly thing (i tried though), so i'd love some feedback too ! |

Thank you for sharing this!I think it's really great. I have been looking for a good calculator a lot, but most of the time I estimate my string length according to my experience. If the string is too short, I extend it. There are some colors I have to save a little. ๐ But especially with multicolor thread, where I can't extend them because of the gradient, it's good to know how much I need. Therefore I make a pattern just to try it out and write down the length I really needed. |
