I was asked to make a dog collar for a friend and I’m thinking of using a 1” parachute clip for the fastener, using an alpha pattern but it’s only 11 strings wide and needs to be thicker. Any suggestions on making the pattern thicker?

Depending on the pattern, you could just add rows of the background colour at the top and the bottom.

Alternatively you could also use thicker materials to tie the pattern.

It’s pattern #148345. If I were to use a thicker material for it, what would you recommend?

I would say double up on the string when tying or use a good quality yarn to get a thicker base. It may be more difficult with yarn, but you can go to a store and try to find a material that works best for you. You could also add more rows of the background color or repeat the pattern to make it bigger.

Ok thank you. Another thing would be using a slider to extend the collar… do you think there would be a way to use that? For reference, my bracelets tend to be very tight and stiff.

Try loosening up your knots by a little. Just enough to where it would be able to slide smoothly with the slider. I hope this helps’
