Hi! I've recently moved from Canada to Germany and I've been looking for places to buy threads. I brought a pretty limited quantity of DMC (which is what I usually use and like) threads with me and I'm starting to run out. I've found Anchor threads in yarn stores near me but I find find it so expensive! 🤯 the cheapest I've found is 1.50€ each skein (2.20 CAD). And to think that I thought DMC was expensive back in Canada 😩 ( around 1.15 CAD = ~0.80€) (could be a little bit more I'm not good with numbers also I could get them for a bit cheaper at Michael's but i dont remember how much they cost Tax included) I've tried some of the embroidery threads from Tedi but I don't really like the texture they have. So I'm trying to look for some other alternative to the Anchor ones (I quite like them). I don't want to give my exact location but I'm just a couple of hours away from a few big cities (Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover). I'm also planning to go soon to Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands) Sorry this is getting a but long to read! But if you have any recommendations please feel free to share! Thank you 😊 |

I am from Austria and yes if you buy the skeins in a store rhey really are expensive! And in the store ai only find Anchor. I buy my strings in Amazon, thee is embroidery floss made of polyester, the quality of course is not so good. But you can buy original DMC in their online shop. I think it also is 1,50 Euro. There are websites that offer all 447 original DMC skeins for (I don't remember) 200 Euro? The same in polyester costs about 30...

I sadly don't have any good recommendations. I personally use the embroidery floss you can buy at tedi. I also use dmc threadship, which I order online. It is made specifically for friendship bracelets and it comes in big packs of different sizes. I don't really like the colours you get there. They're all very bright, but it's a lot cheaper than their regular embroidery floss. https://www.dmc.com/DE/de/products/pack-of-105-stranded-thread-skeins-assorted-colors The 105 pack, which is the biggest pack, is 23,85€. There are packs with dividable thread and ones that aren't. I never tried the one that isn't dividable. When I started, I bought a 24 pack of embroidery floss by rico design. It's 8,99€. I got it at a local yarn store. https://www.rico-design.com/stickgarn-set-basic-24teilig They also sell individual skeins for 1,59€ each https://www.rico-design.com/sticktwist-8m/2077123 |
