i want to make a miniature wall hanging of #167315, but i don’t want to use a gigantic dowel for something only 19 base strings wide. does anyone have any suggestions on what to use in place of the dowel? thanks in advance!

I’ve used a wooden skewer before. Or I’ve even heard of people using a toothpick.
