Hello guys,no, not 50 shades of grey...haha. If you need black and white and 3 shades of grey in between like in this pattern #142398 in variation no. 6 (grey/blue or grey/pink) - which DMC colours do you use? I have the feeling, that they don't really match. I would like a neutral grey - not a blueish and not a greenish or warm grey. It seems to be difficult. The other way round - 4 turquoise and 2 shades of grey (with black and white) - is also not easy. Any recommendations? |

So you are asking which three shades of grey by dmc go together well with each other and with black and white? The dmc shades 01, 02, 03 and 04 seem pretty neutral, but I never used them. |

And just so others can find the variation more easily, I'm going to put the link herehttps://www.braceletbook.com/variations/normal/274450/ |

This is tough for dmc, because I feel like a lot of their greys have an undertone, if that makes sense?Like, I feel like their greys often look more like pale purples. Pretty though! Just not quite exactly grey. Sometime I'd like to try experimenting with dying threads to make different greys lol. |

There is no 01, 02 and so on. At least not with DMC.415, 413...? I have not been dying myself. I don't make sooooo many bracelets like the pros here so therefore it would be far too expensive. I buy my threads for about 15 euros for 300 (of 447) and I am just starting. Who knows how long I will have time for this. 😉 |

https://www.dmc.com/US/en/products/mouline-stranded-threadYou can look at all the DMC colors on their site. For the type, put in SIx-Strand Embroidery Floss, and look through the colors to see what shades they have, and what their numbers are. 01, 02, 03, and 04 are on the bottom of the options under grey. |

Interesting! I only know the 447 colors and I have about 350 of them. It seems that there are new colors indeed with numbers like 01, 02, 03...

According to this table (never mind it's German now): https://www.dmc.com/AT/de/products/embroidery-thread-shade-card-printedDoes anyone know what the six squares underneath the numbers mean? |

I cannot read the numbers on top properly (there are 6 numbers at the top), but I think it might refer to different products this colour is available in. No quarantee that this is correct.

https://www.thread-bare.com/blog/how-to-read-thread-color-card#reading-the-cardLooked up instructions on how to read the DMC color cards. Halokiwi was basically right. |

DMC does have some relatively new colors. They can be hard to find, but they're all 2 digit numbers. Aside from 01, 02, and 03, you could try 168, 169, and 413. I tend to gravitate to those because I don't love the purple undertones most of the time.
