I want to make a wall hanging but I don’t have any dowels. What could I use as a substitute? I’m thinking maybe popsicle sticks but I’m not sure.

Popsicle sticks might work, you'd just have to make sure your larks head knots are even and such. I used a paper straw once and it worked pretty well. It was just a little thick |

i've seen some people use sticks from the ground for wallhangings, though i think it looks best with thicker thread (like yarn) and huge patterns. the beginning of it however will be wonkyi guess you could also use a toothpick if you're really gentle (since toothpicks are more delicate and easily prone to cracking) and if the pattern you want to make is 28 base strings or less |

I’ve used skewers, sticks, and toothpicks

I also recently saw someone use a safety pin for a smaller wallhanging
