Making Patterns: String Order

I have no problem drawing out the pattern I want to make. First I draw it up on grid paper then I printed out some pattern grids to make the actual pattern. My problem is knowing how to position the strings and how many of each string I should have. I can never figure out, on the first try, the order of the strings. It takes me around 3-5 times to finally get it. So my question is, how do you know what the string order is? Should it be straightforward (in smaller patterns, obviously, but in larger ones?) Admin or Adik, if it would be easier for you to understand what I'm talking about, can I email you a photo of the pattern I'm trying to make? Thanks for reading :] |

you have to plan it out, WWJCD. it is not all that straight forward. i was making a 30 string bracelet. it took FOREVER! to try and find the string order. don't worry. if you thought that your bracelet making brain was full of cheese, its not. it happens to everybody.😉😉😉

i just tie all my strings in a knot, then pull them into the right place. the beginning's a bit messy but i think it looks fine. 😉

I think that you should experiment a bit! I mean usually in the patterns I see ( the big ones) it's pretty straightforward but possibly in the design you're doing it should be some other way.Hope this helps! 😄 |

if it's something like candystripe, the order doesn't matter cause once you do the first row the strings will stay in that order.🙂

I already did. In the first post. No need to explain it again when someone understood. And I'm especially not when you answer like that.

I think I know what you mean 😛. Are you talking about designing large normal patterns?
