loose strings tangling in WIPs

I'm going on a trip really soon and I wanna pack some pre-started bracelets to make in my off time instead of being on my phone. But I've noticed that lately, every bracelet I put into my WIP box (I pretty much just toss them in there) turns into a mess of tangled string. Does anyone have any tips or hacks for storing half-made bracelets with minimal tangling? Preferably in a way that could travel without getting messed up.

I would wrap them around something or maybe put them in individual little bags

What I do is I wrap the bracelet around my hand multiple times until it becomes a bundle. Then I wrap a rubber band around the bundle and toss it in the bag. Repeat for all the others. So when its time to take it out, I can take off the rubber band and the bracelet can loosen without getting tangled.
