I'm back with another query: what should the backs of friendship bracelets normally look like? I have 1 bracelet that is PERFECT and so pretty on the back and the one I'm making now is ugly on the back (both normal patterns). Is that normal? To have varying back prettiness?

Knots look different in the back than in the front. When looking at the back, you can see which type of knot was made. For some patterns like candystripe, chevron, diamond, braid the backside will show a clear structure, but in other patterns where the knots are less regular, it might just look a little messy.

yeah, the backs of bracelets are generally horrific looking and sometimes impossible to make out the pattern. they're not supposed to be shown!

@fishyknots it depends on the pattern 🙂 for example in pattern #52643 you're supposed to use the "back" as the front because in this pattern the knot structure creates a cool effect
