What would happen to my bracelet if I used differing thread types? I remember hearing someone say to never do that but I'm wondering where it would go wrong

The sizes of the knots would vary, in a normal pattern it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but with an alpha it will make it look wonky if you aren't extremely careful.
I experimented with using craft cord and embroidery floss in a normal and I couldn't see a major difference in the knots.

I was planning on maybe making a normal with different threads, so thanks for the info!

When it comes to normals, you can go wild with thread thickness. You can see my photos of #90756 and #144340. I used no. 8 perle cotton (about half as thin as embroidery floss) and alize forever simli (only slightly smaller than regular embroidery floss) and the patterns still knotted up just fine and look great since they just have thicker outlines. So if you use 2 threads which are similar in size you shouldnt have any problems whatsoever.
