Wallhang dowel alternatives?

Literally just what it says up there. Does anyone have any suggestions or anything like that on what to use instead of dowels? I don’t have any and I want to make a wallhanging. Maybe a specific start or anything?

I’ve used a cake pop stick, but I know people also use kebob sticks or chopsticks. If none of those are available, maybe try to find a stick outside or use a pencil. A straw could potentially work if it’s sturdy enough. Idk I’m just trying to think of thin cylinder shaped things lol
