Idk if it's useful but there is this video by akaawol https://youtu.be/iG6gCY1OilcI once made a chapstick holder for my girlfriend. I used pattern #36660 and posted a photo to that pattern. I quadrupled the pattern so I used 64 strings (32 folded in half) and I did 4 loops. Instead of making it like a regular bracelet, I knotted the left and right edge together too so it formed a tube. I knotted until it had the desired length and a straight edge at the bottom. Then I just tied some thread around the bottom to close it. |

@halokiwi There is so much packed into your reply. I can think of several tutorials that I would LOVE it if you could make: 1. Joining two halves of a pattern into a circle. 2. Making a chapstick holder. 3. Increasing a pattern size. That being said, you already do so much on the site, I feel guilty for asking! |

@sjandrewsI know some videos that might be useful to you: 1. Joining two halves of a pattern into a circle. 2. Making a chapstick holder. Akaawol on YouTube does some really complex friendship bracelet projects. He has videos on how he makes tubular friendship bracelets and also bags. I think watching his videos, you can really see the possibilities that are there with making friendship bracelets and maybe you dare to make your own little experiments. 3. Increasing a pattern size. MashaKnots has a great video on doubling patterns: https://youtu.be/tizQliTJejM Are you asking for tutorials because you don't understand how it's done or because you think it would be generally useful to have those? I think I probably won't be knotting a chapstick holder again but I might knot a tubular bracelet at some point. I could document the process and turn it into a tutorial. |

Awesome!! Thank you for the introduction to Akaawol. I have lots of viewing to do!! A treasure trove. Does he have an account on Bracelet Book? I was thinking that a lot of people may be interested in a tubular design. I was thinking for something like a coffee cup holder or water bottle - something like that. That being said, I don't have a clue how to join two pieces of work. So personally, I would love to find out how to do that. From your reply, I think that Akaawol my have some tutorials on it - so I will have a look. I am still a relative beginner. But there are so many interesting items that we could make. My skills simply aren't there yet, although my interest is. ๐ |
