A lot of people post pictures of their bracelets lying down perfectly flat, or they hold their bracelets up in their hands, also perfectly flat. How are they doing this??

Honestly I’m not entirely sure, but I think it has to do with how tight you tie your knots. If this is something that’s bothering you though, you can try to leave a book or heavy object on top of you bracelet overnight and that could help to make it more flat.

there is a technique called the “flat alpha technique” so maybe you can look that up if you want to learn it!

It depends on the base knots you use (good quality thread is the best),how tight you do the knots, use the flat alpha and straight edges techniques 🙂

it's usually a matter of knot tension—though the material used can have some influence also; like some yarns that contain material like polyester or acrylic may be bouncier/more prone to curling if you knot a certain way. My bracelets can be flattened because (1) I do not knot so tight that they feel compelled to curl in the direction I knot, and (2) I knot the bracelets themselves as straight as possible—for me, this means typing knots within an inch of the clip I use to secure my work to the board. |

Oh yes. There may be one other thing you can do to help flatten/straighten your bracelet. I've only heard of this; never tried: Wet blocking. It's kind of like what people do with crocheted/knitted projects, to get them to 'set' a certain way. For bracelets, this means washing them in warm water (might as well use a gentle soap as well to make them smell nice, then give them a good rinse) then laying them out on a dry towel to set. The bracelet shouldn't be dripping wet, so the advice is to gently squeeze out excess water before setting them down, then pet drying them until they're just damp. Then you may want to transfer them to something like kitchen napkins or a micro fibre cloth and put one more layer of the same on top. You can also set a heavy weight with a wide base on top (like a book) for good measure. |
