Hi! I recently made my first mini wall hanging, using pattern #124247. I was wondering if anyone has made any wall hangings and has any tips for me? Also the edge came out a bit uneven, is their anyway to fix that? Thank you in advance! 🙂

as you’re going along knotting you can use your hands to help straighten out the edges, wall hangings are similar to normal bracelets with how you can “change” the shape because they’re so flexible

and also keeping your knots the same tightness helps a lot

Hi! I think you did a great job for your first try. Please see the tips I would suggest below:1. It looks like some of your base strings are craft cord. That frays easily for me. Be very careful/gentle when putting it on your dowel. The more you manipulate it, the more it will fray up. You could also just use all embroidery floss in the future. I like the value packs on Amazon. 2. Great job with making the pattern and keeping it pretty even. It looks like you can continue to practice your knot tension. The knots look different sizes in some places. I do not mean knot tighter. Just take your time and ensure to tie each one consistently. When you are finished with a row, use a ruler to align everything. I use an old gift card. I see some base strings poking through here and there. This can fix that. It's really not that bad but, a few spots of red here and there. 3. Next, did you use the straight edge technique on both sides? I'm not sure why your upper left corner is raised on the edge. Could you explain how you knotted the edges there? 4. Last, fun fact a lot of people's wall hangings are not perfect squares or rectangles at the end. You need to cut the strings from the back to release strings pulling it in. Then, shape it out. See this video. https://youtu.be/tF_-Ir6ZRk8 Hope this helps! Great work and again keep at it. |

@alivetoliv Hi! Yes some of the base strings are craft cord. I also did use the straight edge tecnique on both sides and am not quite sure why it came out like that. Thank you so much for replying! This was very helpful! 🙂
