So I want to start making an alpha but I don’t know how long to make the base string. It’s pattern #129397 and it’s 10x35. Any tips??

@leviOsa_09For the pattern you mentioned, I recommend cutting your base strings to be around 6 to 8 inches. Whenever you look at an alpha pattern consider its length in rows. I only use embroidery floss for making normal bracelets and alphas. I've noticed that with my knot tension every 10 rows is about an inch (I'm American so that's the measurement I use). If you have past works that you can use as a reference, that will help you determine how long your base strings should be. Also, consider the materials you are using to make your items. (Embroidery floss is a lot smaller/thinner than yarn which produces smaller knots. Smaller knots = more rows to get to an inch) |
