I haven’t made any alphas yet but want to, but I see then and wonder how do you keep the base strings in place???? Is there a special tool you use to make alphas? If so, what is it?

I generally use washi tape, or I close the top in my thread box so it’s secure, specifically if it has a knot at the top to keep it from coming out.

@leviOsa_09There are several different ways to start alphas* but the easiest most transportable way to secure your creation is using a clipboard. If you don't want to use a clipboard, you can use tape, a safety pin on a pillow, or even a clip like the ones for chip bags on a board/old book. You can get creative with securing it but I highly recommend the clipboard since you can put a safety pin in the top hole and hold thread on the sides of the clipboard clamp. *Here's a link to my YouTube bracelet tutorial playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_mtp5F2qvYG-bvYEl-7b2_nd6UEUUCCa |

Hi!! I recommend using a clipboard, and although it’s not for everyone I like it cause I tend to tie my knots tighter and pull on my strings a lot.
