Hi all, I'm currently making a replacement for an old Fitbit band. I'm doing a 24 strong normal pattern, and trying to figure out different ways of securing it before I go further, the only requirements are that it must hold tight & must be adjustable. My current thoughts are either to just do a single 'tail' on each end wrapped with a string to make an adjustable band which I'm worried won't hold tight enough, or using the original band closure & trying to replicate a normal watchband. This was my preferred, but I can't figure out how to get a clean finish on both ends- the one up by the face & the one on the buckle without having loose strings all over. Any thoughts? It's my first big project since I was young, and I'm not familiar with many finishing/end techniques. I'm also open to branching out from traditional friendship bracelet ideas if anyone has good macrame techniques! |

Maybe use nail polish to secure the loose strings? Only problem with that is it might soak through and affect the color

I haven’t done something like that but maybe you could try using fabric glue or some other sort of glue

honestly id just do braided ties, but instead of the adjustable thing, id just tie the braids together cause then it can be as tight/loose as need be. not sure if that helps. i just find that the wrapped string doesnt work great for me or im doing it wrong, but if i just tie the 2 braids together then it works well and can be removed but is secure

I actually just finished making watch straps yesterday, my technique was to have one braided tie on either end and make a tight square knot sliding closure, secured with a lighter, since my string was wax coated, nail polish and gorilla glue work well too.

Hello, you could replicate a watch band. Make each side of the band separately, attaching the string using larkshead knots. It is also possible to have a smooth ending. There is a technique using reduction knots. See video with a keychain example here:https://youtu.be/Sayf1TxsNI8 |
