Wanting to make a wall hanging on a larger scale… I’ve made plenty of bracelets and wall hangings, but all have been small.. If I were to double up on my working strings would it make the wall hanging thicker or would it turn out wonky? Alternatively, how many of you use or have used yarn to create them? Does it work better? What type(s) are best? I’m leaning towards using yarn but I wanted a second opinion on it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks! 🙂

Doubling up won't cause an issue. In this case, you could consider 1 pixel = 4 pixels (for alphas only, not sure how that would translate to normals). In other words, that would mean double base strings plus double the amount of rows. This would make the finished product double the size, but it will look the same as the original when knotted. Another way would be to request someone to make a bigger version of a pattern of you are not going for the look mentioned above.
As for yarn, yes you can absolutely use yarn. Yarn works great for bracelets. Additionally, it is slightly thicker than regular floss (depends on the size of the yarn, but generally yes). I don't have too much of an experience using yarn, but having used it for a few bracelets, it works just as well as embroidery thread. And on top of that, it comes in huge balls so yeah you can use a lot at a time, which is pretty convenient. I can't say anything about the exact type of yarn though.

yarn typically works, however in my experience if it’s too thick, then it looks kinda bulky, which i didn’t like

I've made a wall hanging using only crochet thread. I wouldn't know which brand to tell you to use, as the brand I use is local to Mexico. But, you should aim for the highest percentage of cotton since it is what embroidery floss is made of. I definitely recommend it since wall hangings use a lot of string and the brand I use comes in a lot of meters per ball of yarn and it isn't as expensive. Hope this helps 😊

Hello, what type of thread do you recommend to make bracelets and alpha patterns? At the moment I'm using waxed thread but I don't like it much anymore, I heard of embroidery thread but I don't understand anything (english is not my first language sorry if something is wrong)
