The title is self explanatory but I also want to mention that I mean with like a D ring not with a loop. Any suggestions? Like this specific pattern is a k-12 pattern and it has 17 strings and I tried to do if but the pattern was very messed up. Any tips?

If the base strings are the same color as the background I use the extra one for the first row or so. If not you can put it not on the edge and tie the knot over both strings to lock it in for a few rows then pull the extra back and cut it later.

You can do what the person above suggested but you also could just put 18 base trings and use the last two as a single one, after a few rows you just start using one instead of the two of them and cut the other one off the back of the bracelet (or keychain)

Kind of Like what onarts_ said, you could pull the string apart so it is half the thickness, and then put it on the ring that way. It is what I do, and works for me!

Hi! What I usually do in this cases is use my background string as a base string, fold it like you'd usually do and thats it
