I'm going to try and make my first normal ever.... 😎1) which patterns would you recomand? 2) how long do you make your threads? For alfa's it doesn't truly matter, if it's too short you just add more leading string later. But for normals? 3) any good tutorials? I know this is a lot of questions but I never learned this before and in a month I'm assistan leader of a summer camp and this would be a fun thing to do with the young girls! This would be a very cool opportunity for them to learn but i need to practice beforehand lol If you know good patterns for 12-14 year old girls (some have done this before, others not) let me know! Thank you all for reading all this rambling and hope to hear from you all! 😊 |

1. Pattern recommendations (in this order, all patterns have videos where you can see how it is done) - #1 Forward knots. It's super simple, but with different colour you can achieve nice effects. If you look at the videos in #1, you'll find a few how to add texture to your bracelet by turning it over and knot on the backside. This is super easy as well but looks great! Then - #2 Forward knots and backward knots. - #25162 A variation of #2 Here you can learn how to change the colour of a knot in a row. #26349 is similar (unfortunately without video, but you should be able to figure it out on your own with the video in #25162) if you want to do a variation. - #37570 Forward knots and backward knots again. Nice shaped effect. - #28009 #59786 #17657 Forward backward knots and backward forward knots. Once you've mastered these, you should know enough to master the summer camp. 🙂 2. Length: That depends on the bracelet and how many knots you do with each string. For #1 or #2 I'd say 1m or maybe a little less (which includes alreaday 15cm at the beginning and at the end to twist or braid them). 3. Good tutorials: On Youtube there are a gazillion videos about knotting, I highly recommend those from Masha Knots and Alex's Innovations. Those two do a really good job on explaining the very basics. |

@Karo-H 2) if you run out of a string in a normal pattern you can add more string similar to alphas. It is a little more advanced for your first couple bracelets but there is a way to do it.
