Best way to start and end Alphas?

I have been introduced to several neat ways of tying the beginning and end into a fan shape but I have never thought it looked that nice. Ive seen these clip sort of things used to create a straight beginning but have no idea what those are. Are there any ways to start the bracelet more neatly?

the clip things are crimp ends. i like double triangle starts and ends with a loop. sometimes i do a book
