I'd recommend buying string in bulk in packs with lots of colors, as it is a lot cheaper than picking out lots of individual colors and paying a lot of money for it. I would recommend going on amazon as well, although the shipping may take a while if you don't have amazon prime.

I just bought 450 from amazon. It haven’t arrived yet and I’m kind of worried that it might not be great quality but you’re right the good quality stuff is way too expensive.

I use dollar store thread for 3.00$ Canadian. It it pretty good. (I’ve never had it break)

DMC thread might be expensive, but it's worth it because the quality is amazing, and the colors are wonderful. I've never had any consistent problems with the thread tearing. I honestly reccomend DMC in spite of what you said about it being expensive. 🙂

My 450 threads arrived today and I think they are good quality, thick and soft. I paid £25 off of amazon. Would definitely recommend as now I have loads of choice 😁
