for anyone that makes kumihimo bracelets, should I cut the strings the same length as for a normal pattern, or shorter? longer? I haven't made one in years and I forgot how much string is best.

I usually cut mine about a meter long, which is like... 40 inches. If you don't want to measure, I wanna say that's about the length from the tip of your fingertips to the opposite shoulder. So if I was holding the string with my right hand stretched out, the string would end at my left shoulder. Make sure the string you use to make the loop is longer than that (maybe 9 inches longer?). Hope this helps!
