Does anyone have any hints or tricks to help stop my back from hurting/aching when knotting? It's so bad that i'm only managing a few rows before having to stop, any advice is welcome 😄

You're probably hunching over your clipboard when you're knotting. I've been using my big squishmallow (massive stuffed animal pillow thing) and pushing it up against the wall and then leaning back on it (sitting on my bed btw). I bend my legs and bring my knees up to rest in front of me, and I put my clipboard on my thighs. It's almost like I'm curling in on the clipboard, but the support from the squishmallow stops me from having to use the muscles in my neck and back to hold myself up.

Another common problem is just tensing up in concentration, but there really isn't an easy fix for that. Try listening to some relaxing music and staying conscious of how much your back is tensing.

Maybe you should lean against something while your knotting. I lean up against my pillow, and set my book with the bracelet taped down on my lap. And to get rid of the back pain, maybe you could get someone to rub it or massage it. I use a back scracher thingy when I am not using my pillow and my back hurts.

@Insta-help Change your position. Leave the bed and make another few rows sitting on a chair at a table. Then move on, standing at a window sill. Something like that.

Long-term: Do regularly some exercises to strengthen your muscles. This doesn't give you unlimited powers to knot 24/7, but at least it improves things a lot.

My back hurt a lot when I started making bracelets, when my back starts to hurt I stop knotting and get up. I take my dog to go outside, go get a snack, or I just switch what I'm doing. I'm an artist so I always have some art to make, so switching tasks for a while and then I come back to knotting about 1 hour later.

I have that too…. I used to pin it to my jeans but now I use a clipboard and prop it up on my legs with my legs up (does that make any sense??? 😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️) it’s seemed to get a bit better for me

I use my squishmellow and I hunch my legs up so I'm not leaning over.

I prefer to sit at a chair at a desk which helps with back pain a ton but i just have "butt pain" when i sist in a chair and i use my cloud pillow (pretty much like a squishmallow but cheaper)

Are you tensing when you knot? Try to relax your neck, shoulders, arms, and wrists. Have pillows behind your back for support. I sometimes go to a coffee shop and knot. I find it easier to sit at a table.

Leaning/ sitting on a pillow really helps especially if you find yourself crouching a lot. You can also do a few stretches every so often- if you google 'lower back stretches' the simple stretches are super helpful!
