Hello Everyone! So I know the straight edges technique for normals but it only works I think if the end knots are bf or fb so I was looking through everyone's beautiful photos and I was just wondering how you get you edges so straight when the edge knots are a variety of knots. Also oof I don't know how to explain but like on the edge when it is like a forward knot then the next knot is a fb and then a backward knot like on pattern #26910 on row 5-7 on the edge where it creates that little triangle I can never get those parts straight so it just makes my bracelets look funny. Thanks!

you have to add two strings on the edges that keep it straight. you don’t knots either them tho. so if your pattern calls for 18 strings, you’ll have 20 strings instead.

I didn’t learn about the normal straight edge technique until about 6 months ago. Before then, I just followed patterns to the letter without much worry about the edges getting wonky. My best tip is to make your edges slightly looser than your other knots (like 20% looser not super loose) to make keep the edges straight without adding strings or worrying about the type of knot at the end. If you look at my photos, I did this for the 3 diamond straight down with the dark background pattern (I think it’s my 4th newest. I can’t remember the pattern #)

Essentially, it’s 100% possible to have straight edges without needing the technique. Might take some practice for just the right amount of tension on the edges, but the look p much the same to me
