Use crotchet thread for base strings in your alphas, it’s really cheap and the one I get comes with 150 yards I believe. The one I get is Aunt Lydia’s Fashion 3.

Always use your scrap thread when making any alpha, you’ll have to add more colors in, but it’s a great way to reuse thread.

I make great use of my clipboard. I keep my safety pin for unknotting my bracelets on the circle ring on my clip, I will always have my clipboard decorated, If I’m making a chinese staircase I will literally just use the base string to make the knots and then pull down cause my threads unwind otherwise, if possible instead of a ruler I use the clip to straighten out my alpha rows.

When I'm making a wall hanging instead of using tape to secure it I attach two safety pins to a pillow then put the wooden dowels inside the safety pins.

My favorite hack of all time is when entering a string into an alpha, do a forward backward or backward forward. I actually found this hack on accident, but I find it gives me the smoothest entry.

An add on to my previous hack (as I forgot to write it) is this method also works well if your pattern has a lot of "tiny dots" (one knot of a color then change colors). I found that whenever I did tiny knots with forward or backward knots they would get almost lost or hidden. This method (for whatever reason, I don't know) made them less hidden and visible. An example of this would be #64182 (I opened BB and this was the first pattern that came up that would work). On the yellow knots, do a forward backward or backward forward knot. I hope this helps you in your future projects!
