I have a questions for you, whenever I try to make an alpha from image, it turns out all these weird colors. Is there any way to change that?

Well, I personally first draw what I want it to look like on a checkered paper (turned so that the squares are diamonds). Then, I trace where the strings should go. Then, I take coloured pencils, and I draw the knots with the strings connecting them, working out any remaining issues (and changing the pattern if it turns out my initial idea was impossible). Then, I mark arrows on the knots. Then, I open the pattern maker, and I write the knots and strings out (remember to start with a knot, not with a free string and then a knot- the program gets confused. I had to re-write my whole pattern ;-; ), and if it's not right, I look at the knots on the screen- they're much easier to follow than the checkerboard. Remember to also start with the same strings that you finish with.

Normal patterns are more challenging to make I think (I never made an alpha pattern), but honestly, that's why I like them more. You need to figure out the knots, and it's fun, at least for me.
