hi guysss 😎so I've been on the site for a while, and throughout the bracelet community there has been so many different classifications as to what the heck a 1-2 1-2 pattern actually is! I've heard them described as patterns that mostly consist of fb and bf knots, patterns that are not easily segment knotted, and even just described as a blanket term for normal patterns! just wondering if there is a concrete definition, or if its just whatever you think! thanks in advance😜 |

I believe that a 1-2-1-2 pattern is when only 2 strings are grouped together to knot with and then you move onto another set. for example, if your strings were laid out in rainbow order, I think 1-2-1-2 means you would knot red and orange together, then yellow and green, then blue and purple. hope that makes sense 🙂

@kanderson ahh okay!! so it’s the way you knot the pattern (row by row) rather than the pattern itself? thank you hahah

A 1212 pattern is any pattern that entirely (or almost entirely) consists of fb and/or bf knots. They can’t be segment knotted, so that’s probably why you’ve heard them described that way, but that’s more of a characteristic of them and not part of the definition. All 1212 patterns are normal patterns, but not all normal patterns are 1212 patterns

I though a 1212 pattern was a pattern like #20941 like just a simple pattern that you keep repeating 😂 guess I was wrong
