in some patterns you can change the color of specific strings. so for example pattern #30731 the original pattern has only two colors but variations have more than two colors. how do you do that?

When you go to create a variation there is an order of letters that shows the order of certain colors of string. Iโm pretty sure you can add letters therefore adding colors to the variation as long as the pattern stays the same.
