I have been working on a normal pattern. 24 strings with 12 different colors with 4 different gradients. What is the best way to enter your colors where they are not too similar and cause your pattern to be declined. Is there a way of doing this that is easier than just picking different shades of the color, or a trick to choosing colors? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not understanding what c=k or a=c is referring to.

c=k and a=c means that your first (a), third (c) and tenth (k) colour are too similar. To make colours less similar you can make them more/less saturated or change how much black or white is in the colour. You can also move the colour slider.

As long as there's a warning the pattern will most likely not be accepted but even if there's no warning it might get rejected. You have to experiment a bit with it.

@Julie12017 The generator can be super picky about some color combinations. For me, It's easiest when choosing gradients to pick the basic bright hue first (such as brown) then copy/paste that same code for the other shades you want in the brown gradient, but then move the dot in the shadow box to make them lighter or darker accordingly. Sometimes choosing gradients in the same hue works better than picking directly from the color slider each time. So essentially you would have 4 main color hues, with 3 gradient shades of each. It doesn't always work every time, and you still might have to end up with different colors than you planned 🙈

I also find that certain blues and purples are recognized as too similar even though they appear very different. If using those colors together, I recommend going on the pink end for purple and the turquoise end for blue, tweaking it tiny bits at a time until both you and the generator are satisfied 😄 I know I can spend a ridiculous amount of time tweaking the colors to get rid of those warnings 😭 😂
