if you make a pattern based on a logo, do you have to ask the creator of the logo for permission to post the pattern? or since you translated it to a pattern, does that count as different enough that copyright doesn't matter

I believe if you are not making money off of it (selling it) it shouldn't be a problem, there are lots of patterns on bb that use logos.
