Generating a pattern with less number of strings

Hello! I'm trying to generate a pattern from an image, for a bracelet and a D-ring keychain. But the image loses form if I use less than 30 for dimensions. Is there a way to reduce the number of base strings without compromising on the image? I don't know if I can upload the image here for better instructions.

Can you put the picture of the image your trying to use for your pattern as your profile picture it will help me understand what the problem is

If there is a lot of detail in your image, you'll need a lot of strings to make it look good. You can also try to draw it with a pixel art app/website

Try playing around with the different settings
- try more or less colours
- try hard edges or not
- try trim image or not

You can also start out from a bigger pattern and just cut off the edges in "draw alpha" until it has the size you want

You always need to tweak the pattern in "draw alpha" after using "alpha from image". Here are tutorials that might be useful:
