I'm trying to make the sky all black on a variation of #162843, does anyone have an idea on how to do it?

You can do it black on variation but not submitting it. Because the sky in that pattern has 2 colors in the sky, so your variation will not be accepted if they are the same color. So I recommend keeping it in create pattern!
