Hi, I'm just curious about the difficulty rating that patterns get. Is it determined by moderators or is it determined by an algorithm? I've noticed that all the new patterns don't have difficulty ratings. Did the website stop assigning difficulty ratings to patterns or does it just take a long time to assign ratings? Thank you

It used to be assigned by moderators, but new patterns are no longer assigned difficulty ratings because difficulty is subjective. Something one moderator may see as an easy pattern, another moderator could see as a more difficult pattern, so I think they decided it was no longer relevant to use

that makes sense, thanks for your reply, I imagine running this website is a lot of work for the moderators
