Hi, I want to killll myself!I bought some expensive dmc pearl cotton floss but I wanted to go quick and I didn't check the size of the thread I was buying. I bought the size 8, and at home when unwrapping them I found out it was sooooooo thin 😭 Looking over YouTube and internet but I found nothing about thin alphas, and I think that if I try making any pattern we won't see anything.. I bough some 25meters long and one 80meters long floss.. I know I can double it but I'm afraid it won't turn good and get tangled.. Has this ever happened to anyone here? What would be your advice/opinion to deal with this? |

Hm I haven’t done this but I’m sure, you are right and you could double it. It may get tangled if you work too quickly, but maybe try making a small bracelet or keychain first to see how it works? You could also make a thin alpha. I am not completely sure, but if I had to guess, it wouldn’t distort the image as long as you only use the size 8, because then everything would be scaled down the same. I hope this helps 🙂 , don’t stress I’m sure it will turn out great! Also if you haven’t used the string yet, if you really don’t want it, maybe see if you can return it

@aa7648 thaaank you for reliving my stress! I took time to calm down and I feel better now. I'm right now trying to make a simple alpha, and I kinda love the size, very thin, very delicate. I think you are right for the proportions but what I dread is that the pattern would be so tiny that we couldnt see it pretty well.I'm going to test without adding layers, and then make another bracelet with 2/3 thread in one. I'll make an update when I'm done 😄! |

Ok cool! That actually does sound really pretty, because I really like some of the wider patterns but they do get really thick. Also come to think of it I’m sure doubling the string would work, because last year I made a bunch of (normals) with doubled string because it goes by faster (I was really impatient 😂) but they turned out well soo

If you still have more left over after that, you could make #25493, but make two rows of every color, and make the borders two knots wide instead of one

aa7648So true! On Instagram I saw a comment on someone's post And it was saying that we love soooo much making big alphas but we prefer to wear thinner bracelets! Oh well, I think I should twist them (like twisted ends) so it stay consistent? I understand sooo much, I'm use to make atebas (round Brazilian bracelet) for about 2 years and I used to do this to speed up the process! It wasn't a really good idea because it was too lose on some spots and you could see some '' holes '', I hope it will turn good in friendship bracelets like yours 😉 |

@madeleine_ I bought soo many strings so I would definitely have to use this for awhile! Thank you for your advice!! Maybe if I find a bunch of pattern like that (are those ethnicals?) (not like cats or lemon, the harder ones) I can use all of it. I hate spilling thread (and everything in general haha)
