I'm by no means new to friendship bracelet making, but just made this account because I am SO fed up. I CANNOT make a basic chevron bracelet... I have watched many tutorials and I have made one or two good ones in the few years I've been making bracelets. THEY ARE HOLEY! I can't get them to not me and I love the way chevron looks but I can't do it! I'm holding the string taught, I'm knotting correctly, I'm trying to pull softer, trying to pull harder but nothing works! I've watched BeyondBracelets in the past and I love her. She's very helpful but no matter how many time I watch her video about this, it doesn't help! 🙁 I've recently found Marsha Knots on youtube as well and I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. :/ I love the chevron pattern but I just cannot do it. I have one that I wear every day that actually worked and I have no idea how I made it, mostly because it was about 2 years ago now... but still. D:

maybe it’s your string, try a different type of string cause that’s what my issue was

Yea it could by your string because some string doesn’t have good grip and might not stay very well

I had the same problem...granted it was a while ago but it took me FOREVER! I recommend practicing both knots and then taking a breath and retry in like a week (I had to do this I was so mad lol)

Yes, retry the basic knotting steps like others have mentioned, and trying the candy stripe again might help. Keep your knots tight to prevent too many holes. Good luck!!!

Perhaps it’s because your string is too smooth. Try using cotton pearl and see if that helps 😊

Make sure you pull the first half of your knot tight before doing the second half. Try to not hurry too much when making your knots.

Getting an even knotting structure without holes can take some time and practice so keep on practicing and no worries!

Thank you all! I use DMC embroidery floss because that's all I have available to me (especially now in this pandemic). I have a lot of it and I'm not really in the market to spend even more money on string atm... But will keep an eye out. I have no issues with any other pattern, and currently am practicing!

I know you’re not a beginner, but it might help to watch Masha Knots’ “Beginner Mistakes” video if you haven’t yet

if your problem is holes, try taking the time to relaly knot tightly and it takes practice, some of mine do still end up wiht holes

The best video that I’ve seen on chevrons was by simpleDIY. It was a really good simple tutorial. It was the first video on bracelets that I watched and it started my whole bracelet career

It could be because of you string or you’re not making your knots tight enough

I think you should probably practice pattern #1 and also focus on making the knots even, not focus on tightness? Because I taught chevron to a friend, but her knots were always loose so I thought it would turn out holey, but it didn't and was perfect! The knots were very loose but as they were all even it still looked good, just took less time since the knots were bigger.
