So I'm planning to make some of the thicker alpha (and normal) patterns into bookmarks, and I was wondering how you guys keep your bracelet-bookmarks firm and pretty much straight. Tight knots is an obvious one, but I wanted to know if there was more to it than that? Also, what's the best way to start and end a bracelet-bookmark? |

@meetandcraft on Instagram has a great tutorial on how to start a bookmark bracelet. It’s in her “tutorial for a loop with a straight star” igtv

I would recommend saving some string at the beginning to do a twisted tie for the beginning and then end it with some tassels. The tie can be used as the marker that can stick out of your book to help find your spot easier. As for the knots... I found it’s always consistency. I have troubles sometimes when I carelessly tie my knots because they become inconsistent and I end up having to re-do the knot. I hope this helps!

I think starting with a loop and ending with tassels would look really cool

Do you use the straight edge technique? It’s really easy and makes those pesky edges look so crisp. No seriously sometimes I see pictures of bracelets that look so good I wanna eat them

Thanks for the help guys!@nerdyesme I usually use the row-by-row (chevron?) method, so I don't need the technique. I have yet to see a bracelet I want to eat 😂 |

For the ends you could a braiding technique, I’ve also seen people twist there ends as well. I personally don’t know how they do the twisting technique but I bet there is a tutorial for it somewhere

Thick alphas are always pretty firm. And, a really easy way to end a bookmark is to just tie a knot at the end, to make a tassel. If you look on my profile, you can look at one of my bookmarks. ( the Hamilton one!)

I would do an alpha teardrop loop (for which Masha Knots has a tutorial) and the straight edges technique which she also has a tutorial for, and actually I tie looser knots and they come out pretty good..just for your knots tie them consistently(:

I would start in a straight line leaving some string to tie 3 knots with at the end (divided into groups, not three knots altogether!) I think this is a great way to start and finish, because it really looks like a bookmark! For keeping them crisp on the edges I would also recommend the straight edges technique🙂
