Maybe you could use a dark blue or purple instead of the grey.

the pastel variations would look nice with that pattern but you can also try these: black, white, blue, yellow, red

a light pastel purple, grey and a bit darker shade of purple with a white border would look really nice. I actually love this pattern and I've made it myself.

Light blues and yellows would look good with the red, and white would look good with it too!
