So I realized early on in my bracelet making that I was going to end up using black in almost every one I make. While searching on Amazon I saw a listing for spools/cones of embroidery thread that was over 5000yds of thread. I tried to look at the description to see how thick the thread is, normal DMC thread is a six count thread and I was wondering if that was the way it came on the spools/cones. If it came the same way it does in skeins it would be so much more cost efficient to buy it like that than in the giant packs of thread I normally buy when I need to reup on color selection. Anyone’s input is greatly appreciated and if you have a better way to buy bulk colors for a decent price I would appreciate that too!

I know at Michaels they have packs of black Loops and Threads floss. I'm pretty sure they have packs of embroidery floss and packs of craft string.

if you aren’t sure about it, you can also look for size 5 DMC petra thread, which definitely is comparable to embroidery floss thickness

If you go to the crochet section in Wal-Mart, you can buy huge spools of thread in different sizes. That's what I do with white and black threads

@Basilology What is hard about getting a different brand, (at least for me), is the fact that different brands have different shines for their thread. The reason why I am having such a hard time finding a bulk option for myself is because I don’t want to spend the money on it then my OCD be triggered when they don’t have the same texture/shine to them.

I buy the black and white loops and threads and I have not had any issues. Maybe only use that thread brand in a bracelet? Hope that helped 😉

@Basilology I use DMC, it’s the only I’ve come across that doesn’t fray or get knots in the slack string I use in my bracelet

I usually buy packs when I have no good colours but I would suggest if you like DMC thread you should just get a lot of individual black skeins of thread, hope this will help.
