Thickness of threads

I ran out of a lot of my threads before the lockdown started and now the only threads I have are thinner than my black thread. Do you reckon using two threads of each colour instead of one to help level the thickness out? Or is it too much of a hassle and won't work out in the end?

For alphas they need to be the same thickness otherwise they will turn out wonky but it shouldn't matter too much for normal patterns
